And March is gone!

March 31st, 2021

Just a month ago, we were celebrating the S/V Veiviseren’s birthday. While works to put the sailboat in shape for her Maiden Voyage continued throghout March, the crew is working hard on planning the first trip. We are all so excited!

It hasn’t been easy. COVID-19 is still a major concern in Yucatan and we have noticed that most people attending the marina where the vessel is based, do not pay too much attention to preventive measures, so we try to stay away from everyone and we had to limit our working days from Monday to Thursday and avoid weekends, when most people attend the place.

As if a reduced work week was not enough, the weather hasn’t been very helpful. Yes, we had a very nice weather this month: sunny days and smooth breeze, perfect for sailing… but not for working inside the sailboat: it is too hot!

So, little by little, the job is being done. I have learned a couple of tricks too: basic mechanics. I saved a few pesos by learning how to change the oil and filters myself, and my mother taught me how to get rid of burnt oil stains on my clothes without damaging them!

I finished to set everything up to start painting and got a few tips on how to restore the wood on the deck. I bet you can guess what is on the program for April, before we set sails!

Oh! And as you can see below, I am improving my video editing skills too! I thought of making a teaser for our Maiden Voyage by telling our story. More videos will come in the next weeks, especially once we start sailing!
